Missions

Interested in missions?

Missions are a major part of our lives here at FBC Jenks. God has called us all to be disciples and to make disciples of all nations. Being a missionary means that you are committed to go where God wants you to be, and do what he asks you to do. This is the perfect opportunity to use your gifts, skills, and resources to advance God’s Kingdom. We divide our mission field opportunities into three areas: local, domestic and international.

Local

We frequently partner with Jenks CarePoint, Isaiah 58, John 3:16 Mission, Dayspring Villa, Jenks Food Bank, Hope is Alive and Bixby Outreach Center. God may be calling you to be a light right in your own neighborhood! Will you join us as we share the gospel with those in our community?

ESL Classes

Here at FBC Jenks we offer FREE ESL classes (English as a Second Language) Monday through Thursday starting the Tuesday immediately following labor day through the Jenks school calendar year (we typically follow the school calendar with these classes). We have a rotating schedule with beginning classes and advanced classes being offered. This is a great way to learn English and find a great community! Let us know if you have any questions.

Domestic

Domestic mission trips are diverse in opportunities to serve, cultural experiences, and community needs. Some of our past mission opportunities include Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis and Oklahoma City.

International

We currently have three full-time missionaries from First Baptist Jenks living in Kenya, Africa: Jess Peek, Janet Peek and Bridgett Lawrence. Jess and Janet have been living in Kenya for seven years now and Bridgett moved to Kenya early 2020. Since we first began missions work in Kenya during 2011, we have started 31 churches, four schools and started the Family Preservation Ministry which includes the Crown of Beauty and the Blessings Bakery. The Crown of Beauty has given us an opportunity to work with widows and mothers who have been abandoned and discarded by their husbands. We give them a safe place to live while they recover and heal. During their stay, they are discipled and learn a trade such as sewing or baking. This past year we opened up The Blessing Bakery, where these women can work and practice their baking skills.
